Dublin Port’s Substation Receives High Commendation in the ULI Ireland Excellence in Placemaking Awards

The Urban Land Institute (ULI) and CBRE joined forces again to recognise and reward organisations and communities across Ireland that make efforts to improve their local communities through projects that add to the public realm and make places better settings in which to live, work and play. Dublin Port’s newly opened Substation was shortlisted for the awards and was highly commended by the Judges.

A key feature of this year’s competition was an increase in art and cultural initiatives that deliver benefits for local communities. The Substation, Dublin’s latest cultural hub, was launched by Minister Paschal O’Donohoe in September and is currently home of ‘Solidarity: The Dockers of Dublin Port’ exhibition.

A huge congratulations to all the winners including our neighbours in North Strand who scooped the top award for the Mud Island Community Garden. The project developed a formerly derelict space into a community garden which is an inspirational community project demonstrating the power of collective community involvement.
