Dublin Port Company (DPC) has an important role in the delivery of both climate mitigation and adaptation measures. This is set out in the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Act 2021, which also frames Ireland’s legally binding climate ambition, to delivering a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 51% by 2030. This will place the country on a trajectory to achieving climate neutrality by the end of 2050.
In preparing the Plan, Dublin Port will consider other relevant climate legislation and policy, notably Ireland’s national Climate Action Plans (CAP). Climate adaptation measures in relation to Dublin Port’s historic breakwaters, the North Bull Wall and the Great South Wall, will be central to the Plan.
Dublin Port Company intends to publish its Climate Action Plan in 2025.
