Our Responsibilities

As the data controller, Dublin Port Company (DPC) determines how and why data is processed. As data controller, DPC has a responsibility to bring to your attention certain information about how your data will be used and your rights in relation to the data held.

Except as notified within relevant sections of this Privacy Notice, DPC will not pass on your personal data to third parties without first notifying you. In this regard, DPC has contracted with a third-party service provider (IDEA Ltd) to provide administrative support to this website and will therefore have access to personal data input for example, through the application portal as part of their administrative role.

DPC makes use of several bespoke and third-party IT systems to process personal data. DPC has implemented technical and organisational measures to ensure personal data processed remains secure, however, absolute security cannot be guaranteed. Please contact the DPO for further details.

DPC takes the security of your data seriously and has put in place internal policies and controls to ensure that your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused, or disclosed and is not accessed except by DPC’s employees in the proper performance of their duties. Internal networks and systems are password protected and include systems restrictions.

DPC does not transfer your data outside the EEA. Any data held is stored within the Republic of Ireland or the EU at all times.

Your Rights

At any point while DPC is in possession of or processing your personal data, as the data subject, you have the following rights:

  • Right to be informed – you have the right to be aware of how DPC uses your information, as set out within this Privacy Policy and Notice.
  • Right of access – you have the right to request a copy of the information that DPC holds about you (see Subject Access Request Policy on this website).
  • Right of rectification – you have a right to correct data that DPC holds about you that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Right to be forgotten – in certain circumstances you can ask for the data DPC holds about you to be erased from our records.
  • Right to restriction of processing – where certain conditions apply, to have a right to restrict the processing.
  • Right of portability – you have the right to have the data DPC holds about you transferred to another organisation.
  • Right to object – you have the right to object to certain types of processing such as direct marketing.
  • Right to object to automated processing, including profiling – you also have the right to be subject to the legal effects of automated processing or profiling.
