Temporary closures in place for Great South Wall

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Storm Jorge (Hor-hay) will produce severe winds over Ireland on Saturday 29th February, 2020.  Met Eireann have issued a status orange warning for severe winds in Leinster. Westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 80km/h for a time on Saturday afternoon and early evening with gusts of 110 to 120km/h, possibly higher in very exposed areas. Met Eireann have also issued a status red marine warning.

 

Dublin Port Company will temporarily close public access to the Great South Wall on Saturday from the following times:

 

**Great South Wall from 1200hrs – 1900hrs**

The Great South Wall closure is due to dangerous winds on the exposed wall surface.

Delays to some shipping activity may occur, including possible delays at the port’s LOLO container terminals, i.e. where containers are loaded and unloaded by crane. Please contact the individual terminals direct to establish their status.

STATUS RED – GALE WARNING

 

  1. Southwest gale force 8 to strong gale force 9 will develop tonight on Irish Coastal Waters from Mizen Head to Slyne Head to Rossan Point. Winds will veer westerly Saturday morning and increase to Storm Force 10 and occasionally Violent Storm Force 11.

    2. West to southwest Gale Force 8 to Storm Force 10 winds will extend to all Irish Coastal Waters and the Irish Sea Saturday morning and afternoon.
